Obstacles: |
The client is a start-up and new to Ecommerce and so much information is not available. Such as product images, product descriptions, company logo, Web site name, platform to use. The budget is very limited. |
Actions: |
Researched 13 available platforms including paid proprietary and free open source. Performed evaluations based on 37 categories. Including 5 year total cost of operation, language support available, currency support available, market share, and customer service ratings on review sites.
Chose WordPress with WooCommerce as the platform. Researched 47 available hosting services and plans. Performed evaluations based on 22 categories. Including 5 year total cost of operation, speed and uptime benchmarks from 3 review sites, memory and disk and email limits, and technical support ratings. Researched 22 available payment gateways and plans. Performed evaluations based on 6 categories. Including 5 year total cost of operation with assumptions for number of transactions and average transaction value based on industry data. Also including currencies and payment methods supported. Such as credit card, payment wallet, cash, direct deposit. Set up local development and production environments. Created the site prototype with free license images from the Internet. Researched the products and category historys and created 3 styles of product descriptions for AB testing. Created company logo using free open source The Gimp image editing program. Set up email addresses using the company’s URL. |
